Tuscola Conservation District Pruning Workshop

Tuscola Conservation District will host our annual pruning workshop on March 15th from 8:30 am to Noon. Derek Plotkowski, MSU Extension Fruit Educator will talk about pruning for all kinds of fruit trees. He will also discuss IPM for fruit growers, nutrient management for fruit crops, pollination, and protection from deer and other animals. We will also have a presentation on how to better manage your property, including forest land. District Conservationist Carol Schadd will discuss Land Management Plans, and Stephanie Hoyle of Saginaw Bay CISMA will discuss how to identify potential invasive insects and diseases affecting our native trees and options for controlling invasive species on your property. There is no charge for the workshop, but we ask that guests RSVP by calling 989-673-8174 extension 3. Handout packets will be provided and a live pruning demonstration will be held on the grounds of the research farm, weather permitting.
