MSU Extension will be holding the 2023 Oceana Asparagus Day on Thursday, March 9, 2023, at the New Era Reformed Church in New Era, MI. Asparagus growers and industry professionals will hear industry updates, market outlooks,  MAEAP updates from MDARD Verifier Dan Busby and MAEAP Technician Lynda Herremans, and various disease and insect management practices. Talks will include a recap of the 2022 International Asparagus Symposium and various weed and disease research updates. The Fox Seeds company will provide information on the changes within their company and some of the asparagus breeding programs that are currently underway. Ben Werling, Vegetable Educator, and Chris Bardenhagen, MSU Extension, will provide an update on the recently updated 2022 Asparagus Cost of Production publication. The program will conclude with an update on the research being conducted at the Asparagus Research Farm. There will be a small trade show as part of the program that will allow attendees to visit ag industry-related businesses.
