Join us to learn about wetland and grassland wildlife habitat in our area, and how you can better manage these areas for wildlife! We’ll check out some of the varied ecosystems present at the Environmental Discovery Center of Indian Springs Metropark, and discuss how the concepts learned can be applied to your own property. We’ll also have a hands-on portion wherein we practice identifying and removing invasive species, as well as gathering wildflower seeds, to apply some of our new skills!
This field day entails a moderate amount of walking down mowed paths over level terrain and will take place rain or shine, so dress appropriately and consider wearing sunscreen/insect repellent.
**Note: Upon arrival to the park, you will be asked to pay a $10 vehicle entrance fee. Just inform the gate attendant that you are going to volunteer as part of the Wildlife Habitat Workshop and the fee will be waived.**
Workshop Topics include:
- Grassland and wetland benefits/management
- NRCS Cost-share programs for habitat installment
- MAEAP for Forest, Wetlands, and Habitat
- Invasive plant identification/removal
- Wildflower seed collection
- And more!
