A Forest Management Seminar will be held at the Oceana Conservation District Office on Saturday, Feb. 25 from 10 am to noon. The office is located at 1064 Industrial Park Drive in Shelby, MI.
Oceana District Forester Rod Dinning will begin the meeting with “What’s in a Forest Management Plan” and explain a forest management plan and how to get one. He will also be presenting on forest health issues and how to access various programs for forestry owners such as Forestry Assistance Program (FAP), Qualified Forest Program (QFP), and American Tree Farm. Lynda Herremans, MAEAP Technician, will present information on how to work towards a MAEAP verification in the Forest, Wetland, and Habitat (FWH) System. Guest speaker Brett Kuipers, a consulting forester for Michigan Forest Company, will be talking about strategies for a successful timber harvest.
